Birdseye Maple isn’t a different species of sugar maple, but is a different figuring pattern in the wood. It is a distinctive pattern that looks like tiny, swirling eyes in the smooth lines of the grain. Like Curly Maple, Birdseye Maple isn’t necessarily sorted by color rather by grain and figure structure.
- We offer Select and Better which will have small amounts of color variation. No other imperfections are present in this grade.
- We also have #1 Common Birdseye Maple. This grade has small amounts of color variation and small knots and mineral streaks.
- Our last grade is #2 Common or Rustic Birdseye Maple. This grade has all of the character naturally found in the wood.
