There are two different species of Maple that we offer. Red Leaf Maple is softer than Hard Maple and has different coloring. Red Leaf Maple has a more gray heartwood while Hard Maple has a more brown heartwood.

  • We have Select and Better grade Red Leaf Maple. This has been color sorted to have some color variation and small surface defects such as knots and streaks.
  • We also have a Rustic grade Red Leaf Maple. This has a vast array of color throughout the wood and has knots, mineral streaks, and wormholes among other surface defects. This grade usually has shorter boards as well.
