Most Timborana is milled in South America because it is more cost effective. Boards typically are 1-7′ lengths and 2 1/4″ to 5″ widths as to fit into shipping containers. If longer lengths are required, raw lumber must be shipped to the U.S. and milled there. This can double the price because of labor and waste costs. Also, raw lumber is heavily taxed to support the South American economies.
- Clear grade is the most popular. It is color sorted for a rich deep red color.
